I am a television-radio major, so I find that most of my professors are pretty amazing. Most of the teachers that I’ve had don’t harp on perfection at all. They really care that we learn the material and give hands-on training with the equipment right away, which is what makes this school so great. When I took a tour of this school, the fact that they offered hands-on experience your first semester here really made Ithaca stand out in my mind. In addition, you could work on ICTV shows that are totally student-run and broadcast to the county on Time Warner Cable. However, there are a few professors (all colleges have this) that seem very unapproachable and a bit intimidatingat times.

Overall Experience

In evaluating their overall experience at IC, students often look to what has happened beyond the classrooms. IC offers countless opportunities to learn outside of class, and the students who take advantage of those offers are generally more pleased with their education. Many students love IC because of its size. It’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With its great location, IC offers much off campus as well. The most common complaints are how much it costs to attend IC and the bitterly cold winter months that students have to endure.

With many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer outside of the four walls of your room, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else the college life should offer—friends, fun, and a time to learn and grow.
