Academics

At Allegheny College, academics are first priority. Classes can become quite competitive, but that doesn’t keep students from working together. Schoolwork often becomes a kind of social event, where people get together to study, work on homework, or proofread papers. The professors also fit into this academic and social hybrid, going out of their way to help students, in and out of class. Diversity

If you look at the numbers, you’ll see that 93 percent of the student population is white. Diversity is something that Allegheny students seem to want on campus, but certainly don’t have yet. The college is very small and seems to attract mostly well-off caucasians from Pittsburgh and Cleveland. There are people from around the country, but even they are rare. There are students of every race on campus, but they are truly a minority. In most classes, there might be one non-Caucasian, or two if you’re lucky....

Guys & Girls

At Allegheny, there is a good mix of male and female students. We’re actually pretty representative of the general population. There are some very attractive people and some very unattractive people, but all in all, most of the students are just plain average when it comes to looks. There’s also a pretty even mix of guys and girls, so it’s not like either sex has a harder time finding someone. Another great aspect of Allegheny is the mix of lifestyles. Athletics

Most of the varsity sports teams at Allegheny are competitive in their division. Much of the student body, however, isn’t even aware of that. Intramural sports are a little more popular, but as a whole, Allegheny is just not a big sports college. Other than the small groups of people who would consider themselves Gator fans, no one is going to confuse them with the University of Florida Gator fans from Gainesville anytime soon.
