Guilford seems to have great diversity of mind and perspective, although most people are on the liberal side of the spectrum. For several years, one man was known as “The Republican,” simply because he was outspoken on his mainstream conservative ideals, and so he was easily identified among other Guilford students. Varsity sports are a sore point with the college and those who attend. Although varsity sports participants represent a significant part of the college population, few come to Guilford just to play sports. Several seniors even admit having never attended a sporting event.
