Academics

“Teachers come from various backgrounds—some are researchers and some are part-time instructors. Most tend to keep the classes interesting, but be very wary of the guidance provided for free by the advisors—it is your responsibility to enroll in the right...”

Diversity

“The campus has a large, worldwide community represented by its international students and groups. In addition, there is a wide range of ages represented by its student population—something that is unique to the urban campus.”

Guys & Girls

“Most people are friendly. There are some young girls that come to school in high heels, and some girls come to school in pajamas. Most of the guys wear jeans and a T-shirt and are more laid back. It seems like there are more pretty girls than hot guys.”

Athletics

Academics

IUPUI includes two very well known universities: Indiana University and Purdue University. Bringing those two big names to one city makes for urban learning at its best. On the Boilermaker side there are the engineers and scientists weaving mathematics, visual learning, and experimental knowledge into the tapestry of urban society. On the Hoosier side there are sociologists, philosophers, and business professionals walking through the city and calculating the many ways to bring out the human in humanity....

Diversity

The reality of the diverse nature of IUPUI’s campus is not completely shown by the statistics alone. Most students would agree that there is great diversity at IUPUI. There is even an International House reserved for students that come from overseas. IUPUI prides itself on diversity and hosts a great number of festivals and celebrations for minority cultures. For example, two of the most popular campus traditions are the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dinner and the MLK Day of Service. These events take place...

Guys & Girls

Hookups and hotties are not very big concerns for most IUPUI students. Several of the students here are actually married and have established family lives outside of their academics. Younger single students look for hookups by hanging out at clubs or bars after class. Or, they simply go on a date; however, the dating scene is not a big deal. There is also not very much competition for guys and girls, partly because the average student is 25 years old and in a relationship. Although, some people do come to...

Athletics

In general, IUPUI students’ attitudes toward sports are apathetic. Very few students attend sporting events at all, but the ones that do are pretty loyal fans. Getting tickets to any athletic event at IUPUI is very easy, especially for full-time students. Every full-time student pays a $30 athletic fee, which is included in their tuition for the year. This gets them in to any event as long as they show their Jag Tag (IUPUI student ID). Unfortunately, very few students take advantage of this. Some students...
