The courses are tough at Rutgers. TAs mainly don’t speak English, and you can never find a parking spot. However, despite these things, after the first week of your freshman year, you realize Rutgers is different than other schools. Diversity is definitely something that makes Rutgers stand out—the friends you will meet at Rutgers will make you realize that you like Indian music and Persian food, and you’ll go to friends houses during their Jewish holidays. Students will learn to live with all different people, despite different backgrounds, and smile and laugh the nights away in the dorms.
It is a very large university, and professors won’t realize or care if you are failing a course. However, students remark that they wanted to attend a large university because it makes them grow up. At Rutgers, no one holds your hand as you pick courses (and there’s 4,000 to choose from), and they don’t make sure you are taking the courses necessary for your major. Everything is done by the actions of the students. If you want real life experiences instead of a college resembling your high school, you’ll find it here.

"College is one heck of an experience. Enjoy it while you can, especially your first years because you’re not bombarded with work."
"All colleges are the same—I came here because it’s convenient and cheap, and the same experience would have happened anywhere."
"I love Rutgers and most of the people and professors here. I wouldn’t change it."
"I truly value all my time and experience here. I really feel like no other school could afford me the education and cultural diversity that RU offers. RU rah rah!"

"The summer before I started my freshman year at Rutgers, I became horrified and thought to myself, `What are you doing going to Rutgers?’ It’s an enormous school. You’re going to get horribly lost, they have a bus system that you’ll never figure out, and it’s in New Brunswick. There’s nothing in New Brunswick."
