St. Joe's -
Philadelphia, PA

To fully understand St. Joe’s, you have to appreciate the people who run it. There’s a uniform vibe amongst the faculty, staff, and students here that’s unique to the school. A large number of students end up sticking around the area or moving to Philly for job offers after graduation. While it’s true many grads pack up and head to D.C. or NYC for jobs, it’s because of the time and effort they put in at St. Joe’s that got them there. Also, it’s not uncommon for St. Joe’s students to stick around the University with campus jobs in certain departments or as housing advisors.
Everyone at St. Joe’s takes the school with a small sense of humor. There are some who love it and a small percentage who pretend they hate it, but most people agree this quirky school in an even quirkier city is endearing. The biggest complaint is the cost of attending; however, this is often offset by the large amount of scholarships given out. The running theme through the school is Hawk pride. St. Joe’s helped set a college basketball attendance record at Madison Square Garden in 2003, and in 2004, filled close to 25 charter buses to the NIT basketball championship in NYC. A lot of students have the “grass is greener” syndrome when reflecting on their time here. However, ask a St. Joe’s student if they would rather be down the road at UPenn or Villanova, and you might get a fat lip.

"I liked the school more and more each year. I don’t know if everyone’s like that or if I just kept making more friends."

"My sister went here, and I visited her a couple times, and she said she loved it. I’ve been here two years, and it’s okay. I guess it’s up to the person."

"St. Joe’s is great if you’re looking into the business world. My friends in that school all had job offers months before graduation. One of my friends actually got a job with a young investment banking firm that hired exclusively St. Joe’s kids this year. Also, the school gets tons of money for the food marketing department."

"Philly’s not like New York, so don’t expect to be having Manhattan part two in your backyard. However, Philly, much like St. Joe’s, is quirky and really grows on you after you’ve been here awhile."

"I had a blast in my four years here. I might have partied too much freshman year, but overall my GPA looks nice, and I would definitely do it all again in a second."
