St. John’s has its ups and downs, but most students agree, sometimes reluctantly, that the bad outweigh the good. Some argue that with the high tuition cost, students should receive better student services and facilities. The school’s motto is, “We are St. John’s,” but does the administration listen when students speak? They need more dorm rooms, better computers, better safety and security, and more people ready to help them instead of giving them the run around or transferring their calls to someone else. These things are not luxuries, but rather necessities to keep the students and the institution running smoothly.
Going to St. John’s is a good experience, and the name only seems to impress many people, which is a good trademark to use in the workforce. (What’s in a name? Apparently a lot if that name is St. John’s.) The overwhelming majority of teachers care about their students and know what they were teaching. Check out St. John’s extensively before attending to see if it can meet your needs, especially monetary wise. In 1870, when St. John’s was founded by the Vincentian Community, it was supposed to be an answer for the poor students who couldn’t afford schooling; now many feel SJU is making the students poor. The costs are going up each year, but the financial aid is basically staying the same, making it hard for students to attend because of the lack of funding. Explore it for yourself. There’s plenty to enjoy and benefit from, but don’t get caught up in hype.

"I absolutely loved my four years at St. John’s. Going to SJU was probably one of the best choices I ever made. I recommend this school to everyone—you will love it."

"Financial aid is horrible, deans are lazy, and nobody really wants to help you. Students are the worst disappointment. They act so catty. St. John’s should really interview students before they admit them. We are paying Ivy League money; give us Ivy League students! I hate it! It’s hard for me now to leave because I am in my third year. They suck students in, then just start taking away stuff from the upperclassmen, such as financial aid and housing."

"I love it! And yeah, I still wish I went to school down South!"

 |
"It’s an excellent school; it’s just too expensive. But if you can afford it, it’s definitely worth it. The name alone will take you far in the workforce."

"I don’t feel the school is all that its cracked up to be; it is unnecessarily expensive, and they try to get money out of people in every way. I went to this school because I got caught up by the name, but I must say, I am highly disappointed."
